Hello, my name is Samia, I am 24 years old and I live in the suburbs of Paris. I’m a dietician and I’m currently working as a manager in an association for elderly Alzheimer’s patients.

Since when and why are you interested in dietetics and fitness?

I have been interested in dietetics since my studies as a dietician. When you learn how to eat a balanced diet, the good and the bad foods, it makes you want to start. Especially when you learn about the beneficial and detrimental effects that eating healthy/unhealthy has on the body. I learned so much during my studies that it changes your vision of things on certain foods and certain eating habits.
And in fitness, well, for 3 years now. Well, I admit it, I haven’t always been regular, but that’s okay. In fact, I’ve always been quite thin, the only reason I got into fitness was for the physical aspect. I wanted my body to be shaped, firm and muscular. And then in the end I discovered so many positive things in the sport that it motivates me to continue. Especially the fact that it clears my head!

Have you always paid attention to what you ate and exercised regularly?

Before, no, I used to eat anything. Cakes, chips, candy, I could only eat the wrong things! I didn’t pay any attention. And sport too, I was not at all sporty, I ran once every 6 months but not more.

Why did you choose to share your knowledge on Instagram?

I chose to share on Instagram because I was a fresh graduate, so proud 🤓 and I wanted to pass on my knowledge to people who didn’t necessarily know about it. Especially when I saw some pages saying anything about food, I told myself it’s not possible I have to set the record straight 😂. No honestly, on Instagram there aren’t many registered dietitians who know what they’re talking about and it was important to me that my followers could ask me any question they wanted about food. And above all I really wanted to promote the fact that having a healthy lifestyle in the long term is very good for your health!

What are the messages you want to convey through this page?

Motivational messages. I like to motivate my subscribers. When they tell me thanks to you I went to the gym, I followed your meals that you posted, I learned such and such, and everything, well I say to myself I won everything. That was the reason I created my Instagram. I want to tell them that the hardest part is to start. Once you start, it will be a lot of fun. Especially when the first results will be seen. In life you don’t get something for nothing if you don’t give yourself the means you won’t get there!

Do you think that taking care of your body is fundamental to maintain a good balance in your life and in your head?

Yes, I do. For me, being well in my head and being well in my body are complementary. For me, one cannot go without the other.

What do you think about diets and intensive sports programs?

So diets 😩 frankly me the word diet it’s been years since I banned it from my vocabulary!!! Diets don’t work! Okkk on the short term you are going to lose 10 kilos in a week and then ??? What we are looking for is long term results. Once your diet is over, you will gain back twice the weight you lost. Why? Because during the diet your body has been so frustrated that it will be afraid of running out again so it will inevitably store. A diet will not bring you anything except that you will be frustrated, you will disturb your metabolism, you will create deficiencies and above all you will gain back your kilos and create the yoyo effect. There is nothing better than a long-term diet rebalancing!
And concerning sports programs, I am not a sports coach, so I prefer not to say anything stupid.

What advice would you give to someone who can’t maintain good eating and sports habits? How do we find the right habits for us?

I would advise her to make a sports and food schedule. With these training days, what she will do during her training. She will already be able to project herself on her sessions. And concerning food, make a food plan with the shopping list to buy only what she needs. And above all write down her goals. Achievable goals, of course. As soon as she has a drop in motivation, she should think about her objectives and tell herself that she will have nothing without anything. And above all, she should go at her own pace! There is no point in putting pressure on yourself, in doing everything right from the start because it will not last in the long term.

What are your plans for the future?

My plans are uhh. Well, to continue to motivate my subscribers, to be present for them. But I would also like to open my own diet center in a few years and why not get a diploma in sports coaching.
